1. Overview
This document governs your use of the Anvil software ("the Software", "we", "us"). By using the Software, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy practices described below.
Our guiding principle: your writing is yours.
2. Data Storage & Sync
- To enable cross-platform functionality (desktop, mobile, web), your content may be stored on cloud servers operated by us.
- Cloud storage is used only to provide synchronization, backup, and collaboration features.
- You retain full ownership of all text, documents, and metadata you create or upload.
3. Data Usage
- Your data is never used to train AI models, machine learning systems, or third-party analytics models.
- We do not analyze your content for advertising, profiling, or behavioral targeting.
- Any automated processing is strictly limited to functionality required to provide you with services (e.g. syncing, version history, collaboration).
4. Personal Information
- We do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information (PII).
- No names, addresses, demographic data, or behavioral profiles are required to use the Software.
- If basic technical data is processed (e.g. device type, app version), it is used solely to keep the Software functioning and secure.
5. Communications
- We will not contact you for marketing purposes.
- You may receive product-related communications only, such as:
- critical security notices
- service availability updates
- major feature or policy changes
- You can opt out of non-essential updates at any time.
6. Data Security
- We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect stored data.
- No system is perfectly secure, but we design our infrastructure to minimize exposure and access.
- You are responsible for maintaining local backups of critical work.
7. Data Deletion
- You may delete your content at any time through the Software.
- Deleted content is removed from active systems within a reasonable time frame.
- Backup copies may persist briefly for operational or integrity reasons, then are permanently removed.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- attempt to reverse engineer or compromise the Software
- use the Software for unlawful activities
- interfere with other users' access or data
9. Changes to These Terms
- We may update these Terms occasionally.
- If changes are material, we will notify users through the Software.
